About me
As a child, I traveled much between the US and Egypt. I was slightly nomadic without a proper home – my heart belonged to the US and my home was not here. I knew one day I would move here, but it took many years and great effort.
While waiting for my green card, I studied in Egypt at the American University. I began in computer science, learning various programming languages, and quickly learned this was not life for me. The appeal of the starving artist was far too great. After dabbling with my first ever theatre class – I was hooked. And in a country where everyone aspires to be a doctor, an engineer, or a law-enforcement, telling my parents I wanted to be an actor was not taken well.
Eventually, I fully switched to a theatre major, and briefly studied under Ahmed Kamal’s acting workshop, which remains to impact me to this day.
After being granted immigration to the United States. I was starting over, with no connections and no prospects in the field. My debut was a small theatre production of Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.” And after the show had ended, came my greatest feeling of accomplishment. I was shopping at a convenient store when I was recognized in a big spectacle by an audience member who attended. This was distinctly empowering and humbling.
Afterwards I came across Beverly Hills Playhouse in San Francisco, which quickly became my home and second family.
